Botox most popular with females
Botox, the surgical injection process which tightens the skin in the face and irons out wrinkles, is more popular with women than men, according to one industry expert.
Andy Cooper, The Hospital Group spokesman, argued the cosmetic surgery procedure - which has become all the rage with celebrities in recent years - is more commonly associated with females.
He said: "Botox is popular - still predominantly with females rather than males. It is popular with men but the females outshine the men when it comes to coming forward for the non surgical procedures."
Self-confessed celebrities who indulge in a spot of Botox therapy include Sharon Osbourne, wife of Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy, Weakest Link hostess Ann Robinson and Supermarket Sweep supremo Dale Winton.
Mr Cooper also addressed the issue of people becoming addicted to Botox and running the risk of undergoing too many injections.
He said: "Practitioners like ours, who are worth their weight in gold, wouldn't administer inessential Botox. I should imagine if that was happening it would be in backstreet surgeries, not registered practitioners.
"Obviously we take photos before and after and people have a detailed medical file of when they last had a Botox injection, where they had it done, how much they had.
"It would be impossible for someone to become addicted to it and be allowed to be addicted to it. It's not something that I have come across."
