Those considering cosmetic surgery have been offered advice on when is the right time to take the plunge and how to choose the right surgeon.

Plastic surgeons, Roberto and Maurizio Viel, writing in the Daily Mail, state that people and women in particular, opt for cosmetic surgery for a number of reasons, from trimming down an "ungainly nose" to repairing the affects of having children.

"We don’t believe choosing surgery is about vanity," state the doctors.

"It’s about making life feel good and giving you back the confidence that you should have as your birthright."

They also claim that when choosing a surgeon, it is important to ask whether their clinic is registered with the Healthcare Commission and whether the surgeon is a cosmetic surgery specialist or if they only do it on the side.

In addition, it is important to ask about their qualifications and whether they have particular experience in the procedure in question.

It is also vital to ask if the surgeon believes you will benefit from the operation or if there is another way to achieve the look you want. – which could end up saving you a large sum.
