Sixties "new middle age"
Cosmetic surgery is helping people throughout the world feel younger for longer, a new report has found.
A study by AC Nielsen has discovered that three out of five people in the US believe that the sixties are the "new middle age", thanks to the proliferation of plastic surgery and advanced skincare techniques.
Meanwhile, 60 per cent of people on a global scale believe that the forties are the new thirties, while almost half of Russians would consider cosmetic surgery to keep hold of their looks – the highest figure of any nation.
"Cosmetic surgery has become more acceptable and financially it's become affordable," said AC Nielsen CEO Frank Martell.
"Our mothers might have gone to Tupperware parties but this generation is more likely to be invited to Botox parties."
According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, cosmetic surgery procedures grew by 35 per cent in Britain during 2005.
